Resist
the Race (RTR) is a safe-streets initiative based out
of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Founded by Detective David Bruce-Thomas
of the Vancouver Police Department, it is run by both
Detective Bruce-Thomas and Constable Rob Quilley of the
Richmond RCMP.
RTR is based on a belief that by working with car enthusiasts
by assisting them in finding a safe place to pursue their
love of motorsports, they can be effective in reducing
street racing in our communities. The Officers have put
their beliefs into action and the result is RTR. RTR has
an ongoing collaboration between the police and the car
community to create legal race events ,attend street meets
and car shows, and connect “online” through
the internet.
The
Officers put in countless hours finding venues, organizing
events and contacting sponsors but their work has been
validated by the response from the car community. RTR
is picking up speed in the enthusiasm shown by the participating
car clubs and members.
In
return for the opportunity afforded by RTR, car enthusiasts
are asked to
“Resist the Race” (street racing).
